Junior Advisory Board
Central PA Elite is now accepting applications for the Junior Advisory Board (JAB). The JAB was established to ensure that student-athletes are represented in every phase of the AAU experience. The purpose of the JAB is threefold: (1) to be a voice for the student-athletes; (2) collaborate with the board of advisors to enhance the overall AAU experience; and (3) to foster leadership development.
Purpose
The Central PA Elite Junior Advisory Board (JAB) was established to ensure that student-athletes are represented in every phase of the AAU experience. The purpose of the JAB is threefold: (1) to be a voice for the student-athletes; (2) collaborate with the board of advisers to enhance the overall AAU experience; and (3) to foster leadership development.
Qualifications of Junior Advisory Board Members
a. Scholarship: A cumulative GPA of 80% is necessary to be considered.
b. Leadership: Demonstrates leadership in school and on the court by successfully holding an office or position of responsibility.
c. Character: Demonstrates high standards of attitude toward honesty and reliability, and shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others.
d. Citizenship: Demonstrates service to your school and community.
Junior Advisory Board Declaration of Candidacy (Due XX/XX/XXXX)
a. Using the Qualifications of Junior Advisory Board (JAB) Members criteria above, write a 500 or more word essay explaining why you would like to become a member of the JAB.
b. Obtain a letter of recommendation from a core teacher.
c. Submit your Declaration of Candidacy, letter of recommendation, and a copy of your report card to Executive Director, Bobby Thomas, @ bthomas251@comcast.net.
Selection of Members to the Junior Advisory Board
a. The Central PA Elite Board of Advisors will evaluate the candidates based on Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Citizenship.
b. Based on the qualifications above, the board of advisors will select an optimal mix of seven (7) male and female student-athletes, as well as, an optimal balance of representatives from the high school and middle school divisions.
c. After the selection process, the board of advisors will consult with the candidates in order to fill the following seven (7) positions:
i. President – Set the agenda and preside over each JAB meeting.
ii. Vice President – Execute the duties and powers of the President in his/her absence.
iii. Secretary – Serve both as recording and corresponding Secretary of the JAB.
iv. High School Boys’ Representative – Serve as a representative and voice for the high school boys’ division
v. High School Girls’ Representative – Serve as a representative and voice for the high school girls’ division
vi. Middle School Boys’ Representative – Serve as a representative and voice for the middle school boys’ division
vii. Middle School Girls’ Representative – Serve as a representative and voice for the middle school girls’ division
